Perpignan Looking Forward To Thomond Trip

Maybe its because of what they saw from Munster from Saturday in Swansea or maybe its just their Catalan way, but Perpignan will arrive in Limerick in confident mode for Friday’s crucial clash with Munster.

Their captain Nicolas Mas has claimed his team will come to Limerick with “nothing to lose”, the 30 year-old Mas was one of a number of French internationals to return to Perpignan colours on Saturday, when they beat Montpellier 29-3 at Stade Aimé Giral.

The tight head prop was happy with his side’s performance, after what’s been a difficult few weeks for the club. But he admitted that he was especially looking forward to the match on Friday night against Munster.

“Now, everything turns towards to the Heineken Cup, another competition altogether”, said Mas. “To play Munster in Limerick, it’s really exciting. We have nothing to lose.””

Last weekend’s match against Biarritz was cancelled at short notice after it was found that one of the players was suffering from swine flu.

“We hadn’t all played together for nearly a month so I’m really happy with the win” said Mas.

Fullback Jérôme Porical contributed nineteen of his side’s points to the win.

However the French Champions may be forced to travel to Limerick without experienced winger Julien Candelon, who suffered a sprained wrist during the match.

Perpignan will be hoping to welcome back both flanker Jean-Pierre Pérez and Argentine second row Rimas Alvarez Kairelis for the trip to Thomond Park on Friday night.
