Lanzarote Training Camp

Lanzarote Training Camp

As Anthony Foley and his young Munster side prepare for B&I Cup action, Tony McGahan and the Munster squad complete their second day of training in Club La Santa in Lanzarote.

With a complex specialising in training camps for field-sport teams, tri-athletes and swimming teams, Paul Darbyshire, Munster Rugby’s Head of Strength and Conditioning, has the pick of facilities and for the most part the weather for Munster’s week-long training schedule.

The favourable weather conditions, with a light breeze and occasional rain showers, certainly make a change from some of the training days recently held in Cork and Limerick.

Under the supervision of Tony McGahan, Laurie Fisher, Jason Holland and the Strength & Conditioning staff the squad have a conditioning & gym session, and a field rugby session each day. Munster squad training in Lanzarote

The emphasis for the first three days is on conditioning and skills with the latter three days committed to preparing for the Magners League game against Edinburgh.

Academy player Mike Sherry will join the group tomorrow after tonight’s game in Waterford, as a shoulder injury to Damien Varley (injured in an AIL game) is likely to keep him out of action for several weeks.
