Munster Win A Close One
19th February 2010 By Munster Rugby
A superb second half try from youngster Scott Deasy helped Munster to a 19-12 win over Edinburgh at Musgrave Park
Munster trailed 9-8 at the break and twice had players yellow carded in the second half but Deasy who came on as a 14th minute replacement for Paul Warwick scored the crucial try 60th minute at a time when his side were playing with 14 after Alan Quinlan had been harshly sin binned.
Munster suffered a triple whammy in the 12th minute when David Blair kicked Edinburgh into the lead with a drop goal and just after that lost both lock Donnacha Ryan and out-half Paul Warwick to injury.
Then about three minutes later Niall Ronan departed injured before Munster opened the scoring with a try from a close in ruck.
Replacement Scott Deasy missed the conversion and a subsequent penalty but was on the mark with an injury time penalty. However Blair landed his second successful kick deep in injury time to send his side into the lead going into the break..
