O’Driscoll A Doubt For Cardiff

Mick O’Driscoll is a doubt for Munster for their trip to Cardiff at the weekend having picked up an ankle injury in the defeat to Biarritz last Sunday.

The second row boarded the plane for home on crutches and although not ruled out at this stage has to remain a doubtful starter for a game that Munster must win if they’re to be involved in the Magners League semi-final.

They are currently in fourth place on 44 points, four clear of Cardiff Blues, but if the Blues were to win on Sunday and deny Munster a point, then they’d advance to the semis on matches won.

Cardiff Blues buoyed by their success in the Amlin Challenge Cup semi final are expected to field their strongest side in their attempt to reach the knock-outs and are determined to continue their strong end to the season according to lock Deniol Jones.

“The aim is to qualify for the Magners play-offs as well as win the Amlin Challenge Cup.” he told  the Western Mail’s Andy Howell  . “It’s a great situation for us to be in and we are not going to hold back against Munster.

“The big thing is we keep going.”

The last four meetings between the Blues and Munster have all been won by the home side on the day, whilst the Munstermen’s most recent win in Cardiff in the Magners League was way back on 4 November 2005 at the Arms Park.

Paul O’Connell also remains a doubt but Doug Howlett and Ian Dowling are likely to be named in the Munster squad when it is announced tomorrow after training.
