Introducing Johne Murphy

From Kildare farming stock, Johne Murphy played senior rugby with Lansdowne FC before taking himself off to Welford Road where he enjoyed a very successful four year period before signing for Munster at the start of this season

He played on the Ireland side against the Barbarians in Thomond Park Stadium this summer prior to their trip to New Zealand/Australia and featured in the game against New Zealand Maori on that tour.

Now back in full pre-season training the only thing that is likely to distract him is Kildare's quest for All Ireland glory.

Place of Birth: Rathangan Co.Kildare
Now Living: Limerick
Education: Lackagh National School, St Peters Monasterevin, Newbridge College, UCD.

First started playing rugby: Seven years of age in Cill Dara RFC.

Sportsperson admire most: Roy Keane

Career highlight to date: Playing against the Barbarians for Ireland in Thomond Park Stadium.

Favourite other sport: Gaelic football.

Favourite team outside rugby: Ellistown GFC.

Hobbies outside rugby: Play golf, chill out with friends and family, a very small bit of study!

Best part of being a pro rugby player: Getting paid to do what you love

Worst part of being pro rugby player: Pre season! 

Person you would most like to meet: Love to have a few beers with Ricky Hatton

Person you would avoid at all costs: Katie Price.

Pet hate: Stubbing your toe first thing in the morning after getting out of bed! 

Favourite Food: Roast Kerry lamb, with flowery potatoes and cauliflower!

Sporting Event you'd most like to attend: The bull run in Pamplona

Best place you've visited: Las Vegas 

Plans for when rugby career over: Owning a Restaurant and Bar hopefully!

RWC 2011 Winner: Ireland.

Three people you would invite to dinner and why: JFK, to ask him about Marilyn Monroe; Jesus, cos he can turn water into wine, it would be some party; Sienna Miller, there's always a chance !?
