Tomas O’Leary who injured his thumb in the game against Leinster has been ruled out of Munster action for the immediate future.

O’Leary had an operation on Tuesday and could be out for anything from six to eight weeks.  His place on the Munster team is now likely to go to Peter Stringer with Duncan Williams likely to be on the bench.

It was also confirmed that Munster will not be lodging an appeal on the seven week suspension imposed on Lifeimi Mafi.

The Munster 23 to take on London Irish in round one of the Heineken Cup will be named on Friday at midday, around the same time the squad fly out for London Heathrow.

London Irish have agreed to Munster's request to hold a minute silence before the game on Saturday in memory of Moss Keane, the Munster team will also wear black armbands for the minute silence.
