Munster Win Thriller In Musgrave Park
21st November 2010 By Munster Rugby
After a thriller Munster beat Scarlets 27-26 in Musgrave Park with 13 first half points from Paul Warwick and second half tries from Sam Tuitupou and Man of the Match Barry Murphy.
The sides were tied 13-13 apiece at half time and in the second half when Munster were down to 14 after Peter O'Mahony had been yellow carded, they scored two superb tries. The first came from Tuitupou after Doug Howlett had provided the pass and the second from Barry Murphy playing his first full game for Munster since September 2009, who set off after taking an inside pass from Warwick.
Scarlets came right back into the game when their skipper Jonathan Edwards scored under the posts and when Priestland converted that and added a 69th minute penalty it set up a tense finish.
Munster set siege to the Scarlets line but turned the ball over and that allowed the Scarlets one last attempt to snatch the spoils that almost succeeded except for last gasp tackles from frirst, Scott Deasy and then Denis Hurley.
It was thrilling end game stuff but Munster held their nerve for a deserved victory..
