Botha Citing Dismissed
18th October 2011 By Munster Rugby
A Disciplinary Hearing this morning in Edinburgh dismissed the citing against BJ Botha
The charge of 'striking with the head' was levelled against the South African prop by the Citing Commissioner after an incident in the RaboDirect PRO12 League game against Ospreys on October 8th.
However the Committee, chaired by Paul Minto (Scotland), found he had no case to answer and issued the following statement
“At a disciplinary hearing in Edinburgh today, BJ Botha, Munster tighthead prop, was cleared of foul play having been cited by the independent Citing Commissioner at the match between Munster and the Ospreys on 8 October 2011 for striking an opponent with the head….
“An independent Rabo Direct PRO12 Disciplinary Committee…considered the video evidence and listened to the player's explanation of the incident and found that, on the balance of probabilities, the incident that was cited was not an act of foul play under Law 10.4 (a).
“The Committee was not satisfied that the citing complaint could be upheld.”
