‘Hybrid’ Jerseys for Home Heineken Cup Pool Games

Toyota and Munster Rugby have announced that the Munster team will be sporting special edition jerseys for their home Heineken Cup pool games at Thomond Park over the coming months.

The introduction of the special edition jerseys will celebrate Toyota’s leadership in environmental technology and the introduction of the Auris Hybrid (HSD).

Auris is the first Toyota model in Ireland since Prius to benefit from this ground breaking technology. The new look Munster jerseys will feature a “Toyota Auris Hybrid” logo in place of the normal “Toyota” main sponsor logo. Toyota intends to launch three additional Hybrid models into its range in 2012.

In addition, Munster Rugby will donate three of the special edition jerseys to its preferred charities and three jerseys will be presented to the Munster Rugby Supporters Club.

The remaining seventeen jerseys will be donated to a charity which can then be used for fundraising for the selected organisation. Toyota will utilise its popular Facebook page platform as a facility for the public to nominate their charity of choice, during the month of February, with those picked at random being awarded the jerseys following the climax of the Heineken Cup pool stages in January.

Commenting, David Shannon, Managing Director of Toyota Ireland said:  “From the introduction of the Prius back in 2001 through to the continued roll-out of Hybrid technology in main stream vehicles such as the recently launched Auris HSD, Toyota has long been a pioneering brand in sustainable mobility and environmental concerns. There’s no better platform for us to spread awareness of that fact than through our long running association with our friends at Munster Rugby.

The fact that charities will benefit from the donation of the 23 special edition jerseys after the Heineken Cup pool stage will hopefully mean that much needed funds can be raised for worthy causes at a difficult time of year for charities.”

The first sight of the new look jerseys will be at Munster’s first round Heineken Cup pool clash with last year’s finalists Northampton Saints at Thomond Park on Saturday 12th November.
