Downey Called Into International Training Squad

Centre James Downey has been called into the international squad that has been assembled in Carton House for a two day training camp.

Downey, who has been in impressive form for Munster in their RaboDirect PRO12 campaign to date, gets the call up after Gordon D'Arcy picked up an injury in the game against Edinburgh at the weekend.

Ronan O'Gara (dead leg) and Simon Zebo (ankle) will also be unable to train though both are expected to be available for Munster 's trip to Wales and the game with Ospreys.

Peter O'Mahony is another who may be available for that trip and Donnacha Ryan is, according to coach Rob Penney, 'not far away' in terms of a return.

With that international camp taking place today and tomorrow, it will be Thursday before Penney has his full squad back together and therefore in a position to name a squad for the trip to the Liberty.

Paul O'Connell will also attend the Carton House camp and will according to Penney, "Be back (full training) when he’s back."

"He is making progress." the Munster coach said after Saturday's game. "He’ll be ready when he’s ready. I’ve left it to him to come and tell me when he’s ready and I’m not asking him."
