Munster’s back row options are just about to get a whole lot better with the arrival later today of CJ Stander from South Africa.

The back row ended his commitment to the Blue Bulls in the semi final of the Currie Cup when they were beaten by the Sharks 20-3 at King's Park Stadium in Durban a fortnight ago. He is expected to meet the squad tomorrow at training in UL.

Meanwhile, as one player's Munster career begins, another ends with the news that centre Troy Smith will return to his native New Zealand this week.

Smith's contribution was significant at British & Ireland level but his progress was blighted by injury that ultimately lead to his decision to return home.
