Need To Raise Game
28th February 2013 By Munster Rugby
The squad gathered at the Mardyke Arena in Cork today for their full training session in the build up to Saturday’s game against Ospreys.
Returning internationals Dave Kilcoyne and Ronan O'Gara took part in today's Munster session as did returning injured players Niall Ronan and Sean Scanlon who both came through their club games unscathed last weekend. Doug Howlett also took a full part in training following his recovery from recent knee surgery.
Mike Sherry who captained the side against Treviso last weekend spoke of the disappointment after that game, and how this week's turn-out has to improve. "We had to do a lot this week to pick ourselves up. We played very poorly. Rob and Simon are coming under stick in the press but it’s completely our fault. We didn’t turn up on the day; we played very poorly and didn’t play to any kind of game plan."
"We let them get up ahead of steam and it was always going to be difficult then in Italy. The weekend was just one bad thing after another, but there’s no excuses, we were terrible and that won’t do."
"We need to up it again this weekend and we owe the coaches and the fans a huge performance!"
