Awesome Assignment

When asked about the enormity of the Clermont challenge his side faces, Rob Penney listed off a host of marquee names Vern Cotter has at his disposal. Most of whom won’t even make the match day 23.

Penney was speaking to media after yesterday’s squad session played out in brilliant sunshine at Musgrave Park where Penney’s Skills Coach Ian Costello pitched his British & Irish side against Penneys in a lively end of session game refereed by Kieran Barry (MAR).

Costello’s side take on Leinster in a reprise of last year’s British & Irish Cup semi final – a game Munster came from behind to win – and five of those involved that day in the RDS are likely to be included in Penney’s match day squad in Montpellier on Saturday.

Reports from France earlier in the week had the small mercy of Brock James and skipper Aurelien Rougerie on the doubtful list but that seems now not to be the case.

Munster will complete their preparations tomorrow evening in Limerick and fly out to Montpelier on Friday morning from Shannon Airport.
