Raising Funds For Men’s Rapid Access Cancer Clinic

The recent Munster Rugby Awards not only honoured rugby achievements in the province but also successfully raised ?8105 for the Mercy Hospital’s Men’s Rapid Access Cancer Clinic.

The event, which was sponsored by the Irish Independent, was held on May 10th at the Maryborough Hotel & Spa in Cork. Attended by over 300 people, guests included the Munster Rugby team and the Mercy Hospital Foundation’s Chief Executive Micheàl Sheridan.

All profits from the event have been donated to the Mercy Hospital’s Men’s Rapid Access Cancer Clinic.

Munster Rugby CEO Garrett Fitzgerald said “Munster Rugby are delighted to to have helped with the Mercy Hospital Foundation’s fundraising for the Men’s Rapid Access Cancer Clinic. We would like to thank everyone who supported the Munster Rugby Awards and gave so generously in these challenging times. It is clear that people recognise the importance of the Mercy Hospital Foundation’s work and this is reflected in the total amount raised on the day.”

Speaking at the cheque presentation by members of the Munster Rugby team at CIT recently, Micheál Sheridan, CEO Mercy Hospital Foundation said “We are delighted with the association between the Mercy Hospital Foundation and Munster Rugby. We are very grateful for their generous support, which demonstrates not only their commitment to Men’s Health, but also to providing essential services for men with prostate and testicular cancer in Munster.”
