Carrick-on-Suir RFC is hosting a breakfast in Ó Ceallacháins Bar on the morning of the first Lions Test versus Australia, which takes place this Saturday, June 22nd.

The club is touting it as the ‘The Lions BreakTest’ and for €;10, you will receive a full Irish Breakfast, tea/coffee, toast and brown bread followed by the big match, all starting at 10am sharp.

You can pay on the day, but please let the club know if you are interested for catering purposes. Reply to this on either the club’s Facebook page or to any member of the club committee.

Meanwhile, the hard work in advance of a new season of Munster Junior League Rugby has already begun, with players assembling on Wednesdays and Fridays for strength and conditioning training.

And this year, the First Team will be skippered by long-serving clubman David Kiersey, whom we wish well in his brief.

David has worn the red and blue with distinction down through the years and is one of the squad’s hardest tacklers (ask anyone that’s faced him in training!) and he’s already making his mark in the early stages of pre-season preparations.

The club also intends to reboot the Second XV to provide matches for the young and young at heart during the season ahead, so please keep an eye on future notes for more on the Seconds’ plans. A lot of the ‘oldies’ are keen to get going again, we’re reliably informed!

The club’s Public Relations Officer for the season ahead will be well-known bluffer and local theatrical diva Dermot Keyes, returning to the position after some extended gardening leave!

Dermot would like to hear from all club coaches at juvenile, youths and junior level during the pre-season with a view to arranging squad photographs and establish a contacts database for the campaign ahead.

If you wish to drop him a line, please email dermotkeyes@yahoo.com or call him via mobile on 087-6413906.
