Munster Cadets & RDS Squads Update

A combination of North, South, East and West Munster Regional Development and Cadet Squads recently took on four Italian club teams at Rockwell College.

The purpose of the fixture was to combine all four Munster RDS and Cadet squads to take part in competitive rugby as part of their summer programme training.

Munster Rugby’s regional squads at U17 and U18 age grade are currently taking part in an eight week summer programme involving both gym and on-pitch sessions twice a week, overseen by Munster Rugby Coaching Officers.

The Munster Rugby summer programme is currently at stage one of the Munster U18 Clubs squad selection process for season 21014/15 and players will continue to be identified throughout the season in Munster club competitions.

Speaking on behalf of the East Munster RDS Squad Ken O’Connell, Munster Rugby Coach Development Officer said “this whole process is proving to be a great success by helping us to identify our home grown talent and developing them from an early age. The attitude of the players and their parents has been fantastic and they are all buying into the programme. The players’ benefit from this programme by learning the fundamental skills and the importance of conditioning from early on to help them progress with their game at all levels in the future.”
