Munster Players Attend Final Week Of Summer Camps

The ever popular Munster Rugby Summer Camps will come to an end for 2013 tomorrow following 8 weeks of fun rugby activities throughout all 6 Munster counties in a total of 24 venues.

Throughout the summer Munster Rugby professional players have taken the time to visit each camp and join in on the rugby activities with the children. The players have also encouraged them to continue developing the skills they have learned over the summer at their local clubs.

Billy Holland, Duncan Williams, Stephen Archer and Simon Zebo attended the Colaiste Stiofáin Naofa (CSN) camp yesterday and were delighted to sign autographs for the young rugby enthusiasts.

The youngsters attending the Old Crescent Camp welcomed Dave Kilcoyne, Damien Varley, Tommy O’Donnell and"Niall JJ Hanrahan who joined in on the fun and spent time answering many questions about professional rugby from the boys and girls.

There was great excitement also at Skibbereen RFC following the arrival of Niall Scannell, James Cronin Ian Nagle and Cian Bohane who also spent the day signing autographs and playing rugby with the boys and girls.

Children from age 6 years to 12 years have taken part in the weekly camps from Monday through to Friday where they each received an Official Summer Camp Pack comprising an Adidas Summer Camp T-Shirt, Adidas Shorts, Adidas Socks, Adidas Draw-String Bag, Mouth Guard, one Junior ticket to a Munster pre-season match and a Summer Camp Attendance Certificate.

The boys and girls who participated in the camps have made new friends as well as learning more about rugby values such as team work, respect and integrity, and the awareness of the importance of physical fitness. All this while learning to develop the basic rugby skills of passing, tackling (in a controlled environment), evasion and kicking while most of all having lots of fun!

Munster Rugby would like to thank all the boys and girls that took part in this year’s Summer Camps and look forward to hosting more youth rugby activities throughout the season. For further details please visit www.munsterrugby.ie or email camps@munsterrugby.ie
