Squad Update

The Munster senior squad and A squad train in Limerick today as both sides prepare for their respective competitions at the weekend.

Munster kick off the Heineken Cup campaign against Edinburgh on Saturday in Murrayfield at 1.35pm while the Munster A side open their British and Irish Cup series against Stirling County at 5pm in Bandon RFC.

Peter O’Mahony, who collided with Sean Cronin's knee while making the tackle in the 38th minute of the Munster v Leinster game, was replaced at half-time as a precautionary measure, and following on from this the medical staff are following the standard return to play protocol which will see Peter integrated back into training as the week develops.

Gerry Hurley who captained the Munster A squad against Connacht Eagles in September has been ruled out of action for this weekend’s B&I Cup opener. Hurley will undergo surgery today after dislocating his right index finger at training last week, and may be out of contention for up to twelve weeks.

Ian Nagle who sustained a tendon injury in his left foot against Zebre, met with the orthopaedic surgeon yesterday for an update, and from this will continue with his rehabilitation process.
