Injury Update

Munster continue their preparations for a weekend of Heineken Cup and British and Irish Cup action with Munster A away to Plymouth Albion at 7.45pm on Friday night and Munster at home to Perpignan in Thomond Park on Sunday at 12.45pm.

Following on from Friday night's game against Newport Gwent Dragons Mike Sherry who underwent a scan yesterday evening has suffered some damage to the ACL in his left knee. He will be seeing a specialist on Thursday to identify the full extent of the injury and to discuss the prognosis further.

Gerhard van den Heever will also see a specialist on Thursday after he sustained a broken bone in his right hand.

There is positive news for Donnacha Ryan (knee ligaments) and Tommy O'Donnell (knee hyper-extension) as both are ahead of schedule with their recovery and are back running. They are expected to be involved in limited training this Friday. O'Donnell has been out of action since the Rabo game against Zebre in September while Ryan was ruled out following the round 2 Heineken Cup game against Gloucester.

Paddy Butler who required surgery after sustaining a fracture to his right thumb in Murrayfield in October has had the cast removed and is progressing well. He is in line to take part in some training from early next week. While Simon Zebo (foot) will meet with the specialist next week for a review and update on his possible return to training.

Niall Ronan (sprained knee) met with the specialist yesterday and he will continue with his rehab for now, and is expected to resume training in approximately 2 to 3 weeks.

As expected Peter O'Mahony (dead leg) and Dave Foley (hamstring) are both back in full training this week while James Coughlan (eye) has been cleared to return to full training tomorrow.
