Munster Players Back Life-Changing Fundraiser

Munster Players Back Life-Changing Fundraiser

The Munster squad took time out of their preparations for the Perpignan game to help the fundraising effort for identical twin girls Zoe & Maya Murnane from Ovens in Co.Cork.

The girls’ mother Audrey Murnane is trying to raise over €;34,000 in the next seven days to get the girls vital, life-changing surgery.

The twins were born prematurely with a condition known as congenital 'Long Segment Tracheal Stenosis'.

The condition prevents the girls from breathing properly as it causes major restrictions to the airway.

Audrey needs to raise the money within a week as she needs to prove to London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital that the funding is in place to pay for the girls surgical procedures, which are booked for December 17th.

The twins’ mother bumped into Donncha O’Callaghan earlier this week and the Munster lock was more than happy to offer any help he could.

“Donncha’s been amazing really,” she said.

“When he heard our story he got behind us straight away, and said the team would get behind us too. “

Audrey has been overwhelmed by the generosity of the public, and she thanked the staff at CUH’s neonatal unit, and her GP Dr Eamonn O’Grady, for their support.
