Next Generation Of Referees

Munster Rugby and IRFU Referee Department have just completed their very successful joint venture to find the next generation of referees in schools within the Limerick area.

Hosted by Ireland International Referee Peter Fitzgibbon and David McHugh from the IRFU Referees Department, the students ranging from 16-18 years attended three workshops over three weeks to gain there accreditations.

They are qualified under IRFU Insurance to referee Under 13 and Under 14 matches within their own school.

With the volume of matches in Munster Rugby Schools the young referees will be a great resource to their respective school competitions over the months and it is hoped these young referees will go on to become affiliated Munster Association of Referees (MAR) in the future.
