It is Junior rugby that dominates the weekend’s action with a full program of games in the Munster Junior League.

The only game in the Ulster Bank All Ireland League involving a Munster side sees Shannon taking on Dublin University in Division 1B at Coonagh on Saturday. This game was brought forward from January 4th. The Limerick side’s aspirations of an instant return to the top flight are over, but they will be looking to make the most of home advantage count as they aim to finish in the top half of the table.

The All Ireland Junior Cup semi finals are down for decision and Skibbereen will be looking to make the most of home advantage count as they welcome Clogher Valley to the Carbery Showgrounds on Saturday, with the winners meeting Enniscorthy or Portadown in the decider in early February.

There are three games in Division 2 of the Munster Junior League on Saturday.

Crosshaven and Thurles get the show on the road as they lock horns in a mid-table clash at the South Cork venue which kicks off at 1.30. Thurles lost valuable ground in the promotion race last Saturday losing to Ennis, while Crosshaven had an impressive win away to Killarney.

Leaders St Senan’s travel to bottom side Newport and will be looking for another bonus point victory as they aim to reclaim their spot in the top division.

Bandon take on Castleisland under lights at Old Chapel on Saturday evening and the home side will have it all to do to get back to winning ways against an inform Castleisland side.

On Sunday, Division 1 leaders Clonmel face a tricky task as they travel to Limerick to take on unbeaten St Mary’s at Corbally.

Second-placed Newcastle West welcome struggling Kilfeacle to West Limerick and will hope to keep their challenge alive with a victory.

North Cork neighbours Mallow and Kanturk go head to head at St Joseph’s Road, where Mallow will have their work cut out in their battle against a quick return to Division 2.

Old Christians, who are in mid table, should have little difficulty in seeing off bottom side Galbally at Rathcooney and Cobh Pirates travel to the Kingdom to take on Tralee at O’Dowd Park.

In Division 2, second-placed Kinsale will be looking to keep their promotion hopes on track with a home win against Killarney and Clanwilliam, who are also in the promotion race, are away to struggling Presentation.

Youghal, who are hovering above the drop zone, will be looking to make the most of home advantage as they take on Waterford City at Frogmore and second from bottom Killorglin are at home to Ennis.

Dungarvan, who are in second place in Division 3, will be looking to keep their aspirations of a quick return to Division 2 on target as they welcome bottom side Kilrush to West Waterford.

Early leaders Abbeyfeale entertain fourth-placed Douglas at the West Limerick venue and Carrigaline are at home to Scariff.

Dunmanway-Bantry Bay, who are still without a win are away to Charleville and Fermoy take on Carrick-on-Suir at the Showgrounds.
