Weather Spoils Weekend Junior Rugby

Only four of the scheduled fifteen cup games in Munster went ahead this weekend as the rest were called off due to the weather.
St. Mary’s got back to winning ways with a 27-8 home win over Galbally in the Munster Junior Clubs Challenge Cup. Paul O’Loughlin, Paul McMahon and Ben Martin were try scorers for Mary’s who were also awarded a penalty try. Ben Sargent converted two of the tries and also added a penalty.
Skibbereen made their long trip to Waterpark a winning one as they defeated the home side 25-0. Playing with the advantage of the wind in the opening half three penalties from Ger Hurley and two by David Shannon saw the visitors lead 15-0 at half time. David Shannon and Kieran Shannon added second half tries.
Only one game was played in the Junior Clubs Shield and that saw Castleisland defeat Kinsale 10-7. Mike Cronin scored a try for the Kerry side and Connie Reynolds kicked a conversion and a penalty. Andrew Kelly replied with a try for the visitors which Peter Murphy converted.
Charleville defeated Carrigaline 13-0 in the Martin O’Sullivan Cup. The home side led 8-0 at half time with a try from Paddy Browne and a penalty by Peadar Cronin. Ger Sheehan scored a second half try for Charleville which will see them travel to Ballincollig in the quarter finals.
Cork Constitution defeated Highfield 13-5 in the Munster Seconds League South. Chris McAuliffe scored a try for Con’ and Thomas Quinlan converted and added two penalties. Brian O’Brien replied with a try for Highfield.
Dolphin defeated Old Christians 39-14 to book their place in the second phase of the Munster Junior Two League South. John O’Donovan, Ronan Devine, Adam Sheehan and Stuart Donaldson played a big part in Dolphin’s victory.
