Munster Schools Senior Cup Win For PBC

PBC claimed a 15-9 victory over Bandan Grammar School today, 15th January, at the Old Chapel Grounds in Bandan to qualify for Round 2 in the Munster Schools Senior Cup, sponsored by SEAT.

PBC have qualified for the second round of the Munster Schools Senior Cup where they will meet St Munchin’s College at Musgrave Park in two weeks time after they came from behind to defeat Bandon Grammar at Old Chapel.

Robert O’Sullivan gave Bandon Grammar a 9-0 interval lead with three penalties.

Pres’ opened their account four minutes after the interval when David St Ledger touched down behind the posts following a ruck on the West Cork side’s 22 and Conor Flanagan followed it up with the simple conversion.

The Mardyke College took the lead in the eighth minute when Flanagan slotted over a penalty from a difficult angle on the Bandon 22.

Pres’ continued to have Bandon pinned back and they increased their lead midway through the second half when Rob Reardon barged over in the opposite corner, following a lineout deep on the West Cork side’s 22.

The visitors continued to have Bandon camped deep inside their own 22 in the final quarter, but a combination of bad handling in scoring positions and solid defensive work by the home side was to prevent Pres’ from extending their lead.
