Munster A Squad Named For Dooradoyle Clash

Munster A Head Coach Peter Malone has named an extended 27-man squad for tomorrow’s Interprovincial clash against Connacht Eagles at Dooradoyle (ko 3pm – Free entry).

Barry O’Mahony captains the side from the back-row where he is joined by academy player Shane Buckley and Paddy Butler, who returns from a neck injury.

New signing Quentin MacDonald gets his first start in a Munster shirt and is joined in the front-row by UCC’s Peter McCabe and Dolphin’s Brian Scott.

There’s a mixture of youth and experience in the second-row as Billy Holland is partnered by academy player Darren O’Shea.

Ronan O’Mahony, academy player Darren Sweetnam and Luke O’Dea form an exciting back three with O’Dea returning to Munster A action after picking up an injury in the clash against Connacht Eagles last month.

Ivan Dineen also makes his return in red after injuring his ankle against Nottingham in January and he’s joined in the centres by Cian Bohane.

It’s an all-academy half-back partnership as Brian Haugh starts at scrum-half with Johnny Holland at out-half.

The replacements bench is a mixture of academy and club players.

The academy is represented by Ryan Murphy, Rory Scannell, Alex Wootton, Niall Kenneally, Harry McNulty, Darren Moroney and David Johnston.

UL Bohemians hooker Kevin O’Byrne, Cork Con’s Ger Sweeney and Mike Lynch of St. Senan’s and UL Bohemians provide the front-row cover. Cork Con duo Darragh Moloney and Ryan Foley are also included on the extended bench.
