Waterford Calling For Munster Fans

Waterford Calling For Munster Fans

This day two weeks Munster head to the Waterford RSC for preseason action in the 2014 SEAT Challenge against London Irish.

The game will represent a series of firsts for both players and fans. This is the first time the Waterford RSC will play host to the Munster senior squad, doing so for Anthony Foley’s first game in charge, in a fixture that traditionally features some emerging talent on the team sheet, coupled with the more familiar faces.

Just recently Munster players Andrew Conway, Sean Dougall, Dave Kilcoyne, Luke O'Dea, Tommy O'Donnell and Niall Scannell received a great reception in Waterford as they toured the city and county as part of this year’s Munster Race. Selling blaas on the street, the lads raised EUR600 for The Solas Centre and St. Vincent de Paul.

Head Coach Anthony Foley is looking forward to heading to the eastern end of the province.

"We're conscious that we represent the whole of Munster, and that there's a passion within young guys across the six counties who want represent Munster when they grow up. It's great that we have the opportunity to play our pre-season friendly at the Waterford RSC and we want to continue to bring the game around the province."

Meanwhile, the EPCR (European Professional Club Rugby) yesterday released fixtures dates and times for Rounds 1 and 2 of the European Champions Cup, as well as match weekends for the subsequent rounds.

The draw sees Thomond Park play host to Saracens on Friday October 24th at 7:45pm, Clermont Auvergne on the weekend of December 5/6/7 and Sale Sharks on the weekend of January 23, 24, 25.
