Sherry Setback

Following shoulder surgery in January, a second shoulder operation will keep the Munster hooker side-lined for the next five to six months.

Across preseason Sherry continued to integrate back into full training, however following a routine check-up on his shoulder another issue was identified with the Limerick-man undergoing a second shoulder surgery last Friday and will remain out of action until the New Year.

Luke O'Dea who sustained a knee injury in the Limerick 7s will be out for three to four weeks while Gerhard Van den Heever, another casualty of the 7s competition is currently in a knee brace and will remain side-lined for another four to five weeks.

Having tweaked his knee at an Ireland training camp last week Keith Earls is also out for four to five weeks.

Meanwhile Damien Varley will continue to manage a foot injury for another three to four weeks, with fellow hooker Duncan Casey on track to return to the field of play. Writing in his pre-season diary for MunsterRugby.ie Casey said,

“On a personal level, I feel like a drag racer at the start line waiting for the light to go green. Everything feels like it is in working condition and all that remains is for me to get the thumbs up from the physio department before I can return to play. I hope to resume full contact in the coming days and be available for selection for our game against London Irish, provided I stay out of harm's way (touch wood!).”
