Squad Update

Munster players gathered in their respective centres in Cork and Limerick this morning as they began preparation for Saturday’s Guinness PRO12 Round 4 clash with Ospreys.

Strength in depth at hooker was bolstered by the arrival of Argentinian international Eusebio Guinazu. Following his arrival in Cork airport on Saturday afternoon, the 32 year old hooked up with Cork based players in CIT this morning and will take part in his first squad session in UL tomorrow.

Meanwhile, a number of Munster players took part in an Irish training camp yesterday, with national captain Paul O’Connell and Conor Murray also present for the launch of the new Irish jersey in Dublin earlier today.

No major injuries to report following Friday night’s win over Zebre at Thomond Park. Johnny Holland received a direct hit to the shoulder in the opening 40 and Munster medical staff are waiting for his symptoms to settle. He will continue to be monitored for the week.

Sean Dougall was a late withdrawal from Friday night’s game. This was done for precautionary reasons after he fell on his elbow at training last week. His progress will also be monitored across the week.

Good news for wingers Luke O’Dea and Gerhard van den Heever (both knee) with both returning to full training this week, while Damien Varley (foot) continues to be re-integrated back into training.

Meanwhile, squad captain Peter O’Mahony has now progress to modified non-contact training.

For those travelling to the National Ploughing Championships this week in Stradbally, Co. Laois, keep your eyes peeled for Munster’s CJ Stander, Mike Sherry and Cathal Sheridan who will make an appearance at the Bank of Ireland stand on Wednesday.
