Interpro Decider For Munster Clubs In Waterpark
24th September 2014 By Munster Rugby
The Munster Under 18 Clubs side, sponsored by Trend Micro, host Leinster in an Interprovincial decider at Waterpark RFC on Saturday (ko 12:30pm).
Fiach O’Loughlin’s side have enjoyed impressive away wins in Connacht and Ulster thus far although O’Loughlin believes there is more to come from his team.
“They’ve been two excellent wins for the lads. We haven’t had complete performances in both games so it’s pleasing when you can still win even when you don’t play to your full potential.
“It’s always nice to win away from home so we’ve been delighted with those two victories and we’re looking forward to the big one at the weekend.
“We always know what you face with Leinster in the Under 18 Interpros as well, they’re always a good side with a lot of ability so the lads know what they’ll be facing but I have full faith in my guys for the weekend,” he added.
Saturday’s game in Waterpark sees the side play at home for the first time in the series and O’Loughlin is hopeful of a good turnout to see his talented side.
“We have a couple of Waterpark players in our squad so with it being local down there we’ll definitely be hoping to have a good home support to cheer the boys on,” said O’Loughlin.
“Our centre Dave McCarthy(Skibbereen RFC) played very well for us against Connacht and I would say that Liam Coombes (Skibbereen RFC), our out-half, was the standout performer against Ulster because of the way he controlled the game. I wouldn’t like to single out just those two guys because it’s always been a team performance by the lads from day one.
“That’s what I like about this team, they’ll always do their jobs and everybody rows in behind.
“It’s been a superb experience so far and they’ve loved every minute of the away trips but it’ll be good to get home to grassroots at Waterpark this weekend and get stuck into Leinster there,” he added.
