Axel Supports Irish Heart Foundation
14th November 2014 By Munster Rugby
Munster Head Coach Anthony Foley lends his support to a fundraising concert in his native Clare in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation. The concert featuring Cara O’ Sullivan takes place on Saturday November 29th in the Cathedral in Ennis.
Cork born Cara O’Sullivan is one of Ireland’s leading sopranos. She has earned a reputation as a fearless interpreter of Mozart, Verdi, Handel and Bellini alongside her extensive career as a concert artist. No stranger to Munster fans, many will have seen Cara perform rousing renditions of ‘Stand Up and Fight’ before matches, both at home and abroad.
Cara will be joined on this festive night by special guests from the Holy Family Senior School in Ennis town.
Tickets are on sale for €;20 from various locations around Ennis, including the Parish Office at the Cathedral, Mary Kelly Newsagents and the Clare Champion. The concert will commence at 8pm.
Meanwhile, earlier that day in the town, the Irish Heart Foundation – one of Munster Rugby’s nominated charities for the 2014/15 season – will be arranging Free Blood Pressure Checks in the Parish Offices from 2 to 5pm.
The Irish Heart Foundation has warned that nearly one million adults in Ireland are at increased risk of heart attack and stroke due to high blood pressure and half of them do not know it.
Tips to lower your blood pressure include:
- Always take your medication, if prescribed
- Aim for a healthy weight
- Eat more fruit and vegetables
- Eat less salt and less fatty and processed foods
- Drink less alcohol
- Be more active, get at least 30 minutes of exercise on 5 days a week
- Get a regular blood pressure check and follow your doctor’s advice
