Squad Update

Following on from the weekend action the Munster squad met in their respective centres this morning before gathering in Mitchelstown for an afternoon of reviews.

With both the PRO12 and B&I Cup squads claiming victories at the weekend there were a number of bumps and bruises reported after two highly physical encounters.

In the post-match briefing in Thomond Park on Friday night Anthony Foley confirmed that Robin Copeland, Pat Howard and Andrew Smith all shifted knocks in the interprovincial clash with Ulster.

On making his first start for the province Pat Howard was replaced after 28 minutes following a collision with fullback JJ Hanrahan. It was confirmed the centre sustained a concussion and is following return to play protocols.

Man-of-the-match Robin Copeland was replaced after falling awkwardly and underwent a scan today on his knee, while centre Andrew Smith who finished the game, also sustained a knee injury and required a scan today.

In the B&I Cup game in Temple Hill out-half Johnny Holland sustained a torn hamstring and will undergo a scan later in the week to get a full diagnosis of the injury, while winger Luke O’Dea fractured a bone in his hand and underwent surgery yesterday to stabilise the fracture.

On a positive note Munster’s five returning internationals Dave Foley, Conor Murray, Paul O’Connell, Peter O’Mahony and Simon Zebo will take part in tomorrow’s squad training session, while prop James Cronin (ankle) also returns to training this week.

It was confirmed earlier today that Munster's most capped player Donncha O'Callaghan (259 caps) will have to face his first disciplinary committee in 17 seasons when he travels with Team Manager Niall O'Donovan tomorrow for the hearing.
