Friday Night Lights For Wolfhounds

The newly redeveloped Irish Independent Park will open its gates for the first time on Friday night, as the Cork venue hosts the clash of Ireland Wolfhounds v England Saxons under lights at 7:45pm.

2015 marks a busy year on the international calendar and extended Ireland squad members will look to firmly ""place themselves on Joe Schmidt’s radar this Friday night ahead of the impending 6 Nations championship and 2015 Rugby World Cup.

The Ireland Head Coach named an extended 6 Nations & Wolfhounds squad of 46 players last week (view the full squad by clicking here) with the Wolfhounds side to face Saxons to be named on Thursday.

Saxons have already named their squad to travel to Cork and feature a number of household names including Chris Ashton, Sam Burgess and Christian Wade.

Those heading to the game will get a first glimpse of the €;3.2m redevelopment project undertaken by Munster Rugby at Irish Independent Park (formerly Musgrave Park). The overall capacity of the venue has increased to 9,500 through the construction of a new West Stand seating 3,500 and comes complete with new catering, shop and function facilities, while the East Terrace has also been covered from endline to endline.

Kick-start your weekend cheering on Ireland Wolfhounds under lights at Irish Independent Park on Friday night – KO 7:45pm. In January of last year a total of seven Munster players helped the Wolfhounds to an 8-14 away win over Saxons at Kingsholm. Those involved were Dave Kilcoyne, Stephen Archer, Tommy O'Donnell, Robin Copeland, Ian Keatley, Simon Zebo and Felix Jones.
