PRO12 Comes To Cork
9th February 2015 By Munster Rugby
Munster play their first game at the newly redeveloped Irish Independent Park on Valentine’s Day when they face Cardiff Blues in Round 14 of the Guinness PRO12.
Following on from the sell out Wolfhounds v Saxons clash at the Cork venue, Munster fans now have the opportunity to experience the stadium advancements at four PRO12 encounters in the coming months – the first of which is against Cardiff on Saturday, February 14th.
In just under two weeks the Welshmen will look to even the score with Munster following a narrow 24-28 home defeat to the province last November. On the night, Cardiff seemed poised for their second win of the campaign when man of the match Manos Vosawai crossed in the final quarter. However Munster, in typical fashion, finished strongly and Paddy Butler put the province back in front three minutes from time with Johnny Holland nailing a touchline conversion to secure Munster’s fifth league win of the season.
On their last visit Lee-side, Irish Independent Park proved a happy hunting ground for Cardiff, defeating their hosts on a comprehensive 6-17 scoreline, the second of their tries coming from the then exile Robin Copeland.
With Cardiff looking to replicate the exploits of Season 2012/13 in Cork, Munster will look to put in a performance for home fans on their inaugural Irish Independent Park outing and begin to build the momentum and consistency needed to consolidate their play-off position on the table.
