In Pics: Preparations For Connacht

Anthony Foley looks ahead to Saturday’s action, Munster’s first competitive game in almost three weeks.

“Obviously two weeks without a game knocks you a small bit off stride but everybody is in the same boat so we just have to prepare well. We had a good week’s training last week and hopefully we can carry that onto this week and get a performance on Saturday.

“I often remember playing them (Connacht) in Athlone and winning 3-0 and 6-3 and it was always a massive contest between the two provinces. They’re more or less only up the road from us so it’s important that we respect that and obviously they beat us over Christmas. It’s an important fixture when you look at the top of the PRO12 table for both sides in terms of trying to get into the top four and maintain position in the top half of the table.

“It’s important that we understand and respect that they’ve recruited very well and have a lot of quality players in their side. They have a lot of guys up there maturing into very good rugby players. Obviously Pat Lam is doing a very good job up there so this is going to be a very hard contest on Saturday and we’re preparing for that.”
