Munster Rugby Awards 2015

Munster Rugby have teamed up with the Friends of Marymount for this year’s Munster Rugby Awards in association with the Irish Independent.

The awards take place at a lunchtime event on Thursday April 30th at Maryborough Hotel & Spa in Cork. The Irish Independent are the event sponsors for the third year running.

This annual event celebrates the best of rugby in the province, from the Domestic game right up to the main award of the day – Munster Rugby Senior Player of the Year. The awards recognise individual feats in the sport in Munster, as well as the achievements of clubs and schools both on and off the pitch. Eleven diverse categories will be honoured, ranging from Munster Player and Young Player of the Year through to emerging Academy talent, Women's rugby, referees, schools and clubs.

Garrett Fitzgerald, CEO Munster Rugby said, "This will be our 9^th year of the awards and each year it proves to be a fantastic occasion. Once again, in association with the Irish Independent, we look forward celebrating all levels of rugby across Munster. We’re also delighted to partner with the Friends of Marymount and we hope this year’s event will aid their fundraising efforts.”

Dan Cowman, Chairman The Friends of Marymount added, "The Friends of Marymount are delighted that Munster Rugby have chosen us as their charity partner for the Munster Rugby Awards 2015. Marymount University Hospital & Hospice need to raise 2 million euro annually through their team of 32 unpaid fundraising volunteers, to meet the demand placed on our care services. Fundraisers like the Munster Rugby Awards are vital in helping Marymount to raise these vital funds for local hospice services.”
