World Club 7s Set For Thomond

Limerick City and Thomond Park Stadium will open its arms and welcome back the second year of the Limerick World Club Se7ens Series in August. All four Irish Provinces will be represented this year.

Twelve rugby teams from across the world will once again take part in the two day event which will run from Friday August 21st to Saturday August 22nd.

The event will deliver some of the world's best sevens teams and exciting rugby together with a carnival-like party across Limerick city.

This year's event is even more special with the inclusion of not just Munster, but all four of the Irish provinces.

Anthony Eddy, IRFU Director of Rugby Sevens commented, "The development of 7s rugby is a key priority for the IRFU and it is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the best of Irish 7s against some of the world's strongest sides.

“The Rio Olympics are just around the corner and events such as the Limerick World Club Se7ens provides Irish rugby supporters with the opportunity to experience high quality 7s first hand and also provides the opportunity for our players to continue to develop and gain valuable 7s experience."

Represented at the tournament will be teams from both Northern and Southern hemispheres. Teams will include reigning champions Daveta Fiji who will return to defend their Limerick World Club Se7ens title along with 2014 Twickenham 7's champions Buenos Aires along with one of South Africa's leading provincial 7's teams.
