In Pics: U20 World Championship & Tbilisi Cup
23rd June 2015 By Munster Rugby
In what has been a busy month for a number of Munster’s Senior and Academy players, we look back – through pictures – at their respective involvement in the Tbilisi Cup and World Rugby U20 Championship.
In Georgia, a total of six Munster representatives – Stephen Archer, James Cronin, Billy Holland, JJ Hanrahan, Andrew Conway and Rory Scannell (Academy) – featured in Emerging Ireland’s Tbilisi Cup campaign in which they recorded three consecutive bonus point wins over Emerging Italy, Uruguay and Georgia in claiming the Cup for the first time.
Meanwhile in Italy, Academy players Stephen Fitzgerald, Tomás Quinlan, Liam O’Connor, Conor Oliver and Jack Cullen all featured for Ireland U20s in the 2015 World Rugby U20 Championship. Failure to secure a bonus point in wins over Argentina and Scotland left the youngsters with too much to do against the eventual tournament winners New Zealand in the final game of Pool C. A slow start would cost Nigel Carolan’s charges in the 5th place play-off against Wales before they finished strongly in securing 7th in their final encounter against Scotland.
