Treyvaud Travels Comes To Thomond Park
24th June 2015 By Munster Rugby
Thomond Park yesterday played host to restaurateur and TV chef Paul Treyvaud for a special Munster Rugby edition of his new international cookery show Treyvaud Travels. As well as cooking up some culinary delights, special guests included Munster Commercial Ambassador Doug Howlett and M.A.R referee John Lacey.
The Treyvaud Travels series is commissioned by Irish TV (Sky channel 191, Freesat, eVision and IrishTV.com) and the soon to launch Irish TV USA and is broadcast to the Irish diaspora around the world.
Paul, who is also proprietor of the highly acclaimed Treyvaud’s Restaurant in Killarney, explains why he brought the show to Munster Rugby’s Limerick home,
“Thomond Park is one of the most famous stadia in European rugby and I had the idea of doing something completely different in the ground, showing it in a different light. Therefore we decided to cook on the Thomond Park pitch while also getting some input from a couple of well known Munster faces.
“We wanted to showcase just how strong and passionate the following is for Munster – there are many Munster fans spread far and wide across the world and I hope they will love what we have done in Thomond.”
Contributors on the day included M.A.R international referee and former Munster player, John Lacey, who discussed his preparations for this September’s Rugby World Cup in England, while another former player and current Commercial Ambassador for the province, Doug Howlett, chatted about his playing memories for the All Blacks and Munster and his current role within the province.
While no official broadcast date has yet been given for the episode, it is expected the show will air in September in tying in with the excitement and fanfare of the Rugby World Cup.
