Munster In The Community

The past couple of months have seen a number of Munster Rugby players lend their support to charity and community initiatives throughout the province and beyond.

Jack & Jill Foundation

In May, Peter O’Mahony, Keith Earls and Denis Hurley helped raise awareness for the Jack & Jill Foundation’s ‘Malin to Mizen 15 Marathons In 15 Days’ campaign.

The Jack & Jill Foundation provides nursing care and support for children with severe neurological development issues, as well as offering some respite to the parents and families. Jack & Jill also provides direct funding to families, enabling them to buy home respite care. The Foundation cannot cure the children, bit it can help to alleviate some of the difficulties that exist.

Scoil Barra, Ballincollig Bike-a-thon

Earlier this month, Munster prop and former Scoil Barra, Ballincollig pupil, James Cronin, was on hand to launch the school’s first ever sponsored 'Bike-a-thon'. The fundraising venture was undertaken to purchase a variety of new and exciting sports equipment for the pupils of Scoil Barra and took place at Ballincollig Shopping Centre last Saturday June 20^th, raising the impressive sum of €;4,363.84.


James was joined by Principal Donal O' Sullivan, PFA members Nicola Radley and James Hussey, Community Garda Liam Lenihan, Belle of Ballincollig and Scoil Barra past pupil Laura Barry, Ballincollig Shopping Centre Deputy Manager John Doherty and 6th class pupils Julie Creedon and Diarmuid Nolan.

Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind Training Session

The students of Cannistown National School in Navan, Co. Meath were the guests of Munster Rugby and the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind recently when they were treated to a training session at Irish Independent Park with Munster's Peter O'Mahony, Niall Scannell, James Cronin and Donnacha Ryan.

The students of fifth class and their teachers made the long journey south after they beat off stiff competition from other schools across the country in raising the most money – €;2,000 – for Guide Dog Day, the Irish Guide Dogs' biggest annual national campaign.

IMNDA June Ball

On Saturday June 27^th, the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association will host their June Ball at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Burlington Road, Dublin 4. A carnival of entertainment will be rolled into an incredible black tie evening and in support of the event Munster Rugby donated match tickets to be raffled on the night.
