Rugby Sculpture Unveiled At Shannon Airport
19th July 2015 By Munster Rugby
Munster and Ireland stars Paul O’Connell, John Hayes and Donncha O’Callaghan gathered in Shannon airport on Friday to unveil a sculpture that captures an iconic image of Irish Rugby.
The 20-foot tall piece sculpted by artist Paddy Campbell commemorates Ireland's 2007 6 Nations rugby clash with England in Croke Park.
Unveiled at Shannon Airport in front of 250 people on Friday afternoon the sculpture captures an Irish line-out that saw Paul O’Connell raised high by his colleagues John Hayes and Donncha O’Callaghan. The moment during the game was photographed by Cyril Byrne.
