Kearys Renault Series To Conclude In Cork

Start this weekend with a trip to Irish Independent Park. Munster complete their pre-season preparations in Cork this Friday when they host London Irish in the final game of the Kearys Renault Series.

In what’s fast becoming a tradition, this weekend sees Munster play their fifth successive pre-season encounter against the Londoners. As the Aviva Premiership is delayed due to this year’s Rugby World Cup in England, this weekend sees London Irish play their first game of the season in building towards a league opener with Leicester Tigers on October 18th.

With a more imminent league start for Munster – against Benetton Treviso in Cork on September 5th – the men in red will look to right the wrongs of last Friday’s lacklustre performance against Connacht that saw them lose 28-12 at Thomond Park.

Reflecting on the loss to Connacht and looking ahead to London Irish this weekend, Head Coach Anthony Foley said, “Hopefully we’ll be more robust, more ready for the physical contest and with a full focus on putting in a good performance against London Irish with the view of building towards Treviso and Ospreys. That’s the end goal, pre-season games are there to prepare you, but the ultimate games are the ones you play for keeps, where there’s points at stake.

“Our aim was to make sure guys get game time which is what we’ve done and now it’s about getting our performance levels up.”
