Joe Schmidt’s men began their campaign with a comprehensive 50-7 defeat of Canada with Munster’s Keith Earls, Conor Murray and Peter O’Mahony all starting with Donncha Ryan and Simon Zebo featuring from the bench in a side that was captained by former Munster lock Paul O’Connell.

Yesterday saw Ireland reclaim top position in the Pool D standings after achieving a second bonus point win in defeating Romania 44-10. Ryan and Zebo came into the starting line-up with Earls again named on the left wing and the Munster man more than justified his second start in as many games with a Man of the Match performance in which he scored a brace of tires – the second of whoch was his 7th in seven World Cup games for Ireland – level with Brian O'Driscoll.

With the Irish out in force in London, yesterday’s game set a new World Record for the most attended rugby game in history. Look back at the Irish turning Wembley green yesterday!
