O’Donnell Injury Progressing Well

Having sustained a dislocated hip in Ireland’s World Cup warm-up clash with Wales in August, Munster’s Tommy O’Donnell was last night happy to report that his injury is progressing well.

O’Donnell appeared on TV3’s Rugby World Cup show ‘The Sin Bin’ last night and confirmed the prognosis is good after receiving positive news from medical staff. Now back weight bearing and walking without the aid of crutches, the Tipperary native confirmed he hopes to make a full recovery and is targeting a return to rugby in the New Year.

Despite the injury costing O’Donnell possible selection in Joe Schmidt’s World Cup Squad, the back-rower is still savouring the current feast of rugby on our TV screens.

“If it was a much more short term injury where I would return two weeks after the World Cup ended I think I’d be watching every game and playing it out. Whereas now I’ve taken a back seat and become a real supporter and I have really enjoyed watching every game possible, enjoying both the spectacle and atmosphere of it.”

Ireland continue their 2015 Rugby World Cup campaign when they face Italy in the Olympic Stadium, London this Sunday at 4.45pm.
