Squad Update
13th October 2015 By Munster Rugby
Munster continued preparations for Cardiff Blues today and enjoyed the first squad session of the week in the autumn sun at CIT. Head Coach Anthony Foley spoke with media following the session and gave an injury update ahead of this weekend’s Round 4 clash in the Guinness PRO12.
Foley ruled out the involvement of Felix Jones and Stephen Archer for Saturday’s encounter in Cork. Both Jones and Archer sustained bangs to the neck in the win over Glasgow almost a fortnight ago and continue to be assessed by Munster medical staff.
There was positive news for Denis Hurley, Tomás O’Leary and Ronan O’Mahony with all three taking a full part in training today.
Squad captain Peter O’Mahony was a welcome addition to this morning’s squad meeting. With a knee ligament injury – sustained in Ireland’s win over France on Sunday – ending his World Cup involvement, O’Mahony has returned to the province and will work in tandem with Irish and Munster medical staff in completing his rehabilitation. While the full extent of the injury is not yet known, Foley did confirm that he expects his captain to be sidelined for a number of months.
Meanwhile, Tommy O’Donnell (hip), Billy Holland (ankle), Johnny Holland (hamstring) and Peter McCabe (pectoral muscle) all continue to follow their respective rehab programmes.
