Munster continued preparations for this Friday’s Guinness PRO12 clash away to Scarlets at UL yesterday. See our Training Gallery and get the pre-match thoughts of Head Coach Anthony Foley.

Yesterday also saw Uruguayan prop Mario Sagario train with the squad in a trial capacity. Sagario, who possesses an Italian passport, featured for his country at this year's Rugby World Cup and previously played for RC Massy in the French PRO D2.

Foley met with media following yesterday’s session at UL and looked ahead to Friday night’s encounter in Llanelli.

“The Scarlets have beaten both Ulster and Leinster and even when you look at the Leinster game last week, Scarlets were very comfortable for most of the game with Leinster getting their scores towards the back end.

“It’s a great region, they love their rugby down there and it’s a great place to go and play. Similar to Munster, everybody knows their team and everybody has an opinion. The people are fiercely proud of their team and the team in turn are producing good performances that people are getting behind.

“We’ve been over there and we full appreciate where they are at – they’ve visibly changed how they play the game this year. They still have a massive attack focus but are a bit more pragmatic in their own half of the pitch and how they want to get out of there. They still have a lot of danger with the likes of Regan King in the middle of the pitch who is a quality operator. The half-backs work well as do the pack and they’ll be getting a couple of bodies back from the Welsh camp this week.

“We’re fully aware of the challenge that’s ahead of us and it’s about controlling ourselves and making sure we perform.”

Scarlets v Munster, Guinness PRO12 Round 5, Friday October 23rd at Parc y Scarlets – 7.05pm.
