Read the form guide ahead of Munster’s first trip of the season to Scotland where they face Edinburgh in Round 7 of the Guinness PRO12 this Saturday – KO 5.15pm.
The league is seeing an intriguing start to the 2015/16 season – after 6 rounds of play the average number of tries scored per match stands at 4.5 and there are no runaway victories as the winning margin of 10.78 points per game is the closest it has been at this point in the season for a decade. So far 18 losing bonus points have been claimed in 36 games, along with 17 try bonus points, showing what an exciting brand of rugby is on show for fans of the Guinness PRO12.
Edinburgh’s loss to Connacht at the Sportsground saw them drop out of the play-off zone for the first time this season, however despite foundering on Irish soil last weekend the Scotsmen will look to make it an impressive third win over the Irish provinces in just over 2 months having already defeated Leinster and Ulster in Rounds 1 and 4 respectively. Incidentally both those wins came in the Scottish capital with Edinburgh remaining undefeated at home so far this season.
Munster for their part have lost just once since last season’s Final defeat to Glasgow – 22-25 away to Scarlets in Round 5 – and Anthony Foley’s men have not lost back-to-back away games in the competition since last December-January.
While the province can boast one of the more impressive attacking records in the league this season – 17 tries in 6 games – the men in red will this weekend pit themselves against the most impressive defence of the PRO12 with Alan Solomon’s charges conceding just 5 tries to date.
