New Recruits To Greencore Munster Academy
10th November 2015 By Munster Rugby
Munster Rugby can today confirm that Rockwell College graduate Bill Johnston and former Northampton Saints academy player Ollie Lyons have joined year one of the Greencore Munster Academy programme.
Just last season Bill Johnston (pictured above) was part of the Rockwell College side that claimed the Munster Schools Senior Cup. Having previously represented Munster U18 Schools, the Clonmel native also captained Ireland U18 Schools during the Rugby Europe U18 Championship in France earlier this year. Joining the sub-academy ranks at the beginning of the season, the young fly half won inclusion – alongside his older brother David – in the Munster senior squad for all three pre-season encounters, starting the final game against London Irish. The following month the 18 year-old played his part in Munster U20s’ Interprovincial success.
A former Bedford School player, Ollie Lyons (pictured below) spent time with both the Northampton Saints and Wasps academies. Scoring a try on his debut for Munster 'A' – against the Ulster Ravens at Naas RFC in April – the 20-year-old back row went on to represent a Munster 7s side at the Limerick World Club 7s in August.
