Captaining Munster in European action for the first time, CJ Stander led by example in securing yet another man-of-the-match accolade and bagging the game’s second try. The South African powerhouse also notched up the most carries (18) and made more metres than any other player (60).
With four tries from eight games, Stander is Munster’s leading try scorer of the season so far.
Speaking with media after the game, the satisfied captain commented, “We had very tough conditions at the beginning but I think we played well into the wind and kept Trevsio in their 22. Then we came out in the second half, played the game and got our bonus point. It was good to get the bonus point as we go into the next few rounds.
“We didn’t set out chasing a bonus point, first and foremost we had to win the game which was not an easy thing to do in those conditions, but the ref kept the game flowing and we did enough to get the bonus point in the end which was great.
“Now it’s on to next week. We’ll sit down Monday, review the game, see where we need to improve and then start planning for next weekend.”
