Squad Update

The squad gathered in a wet and windy UL today after the weekend’s action that saw 45 players lining out between the British & Irish Cup and Champions Cup games.

Both games proved to be battering encounters with a number of players sitting out training today as a result. Those not taking part in today’s session included Mike Sherry, Duncan Casey, Dave O’Callaghan, Conor Murray, Stephen Fitzgerald and Tyler Bleyendaal.

Following on from Saturday night’s game against Treviso, Mike Sherry (knee) and Duncan Casey (pec) continue to be assessed by the medical team with both hookers waiting on scan results. In managing training workloads Conor Murray and Dave O’Callaghan both stood out of today’s session, while Tyler Bleyendaal continues to manage a quad strain and remains unavailable.

In the A game against London Scottish, academy winger Stephen Fitzgerald sustained a knock to his shoulder and is expected to take part in training later this week while academy out-half Bill Johnston, who retired early from the game, sustained a bang to his eye but took a full part in training today.

Peter McCabe (pec), Tommy O’Donnell (hip) and Stephen Archer (neck) all continue with their rehabilitation programmes while Peter O’Mahony (knee) will undergo surgery at the end of this week.

Munster continue their Champions Cup campaign away to Stade Francais this Sunday at the Stade Jean Bouin – KO 4.15pm local (3.15 Irish). Click here for Travel & Supporter Information.
