Squad Update

Munster continued preparations for this weekend’s PRO12 interprovincial against Connacht with the first squad session of the week at UL. A number of players continue to work with Munster medical staff in rehabbing some recent bumps and bruises and a number of longer-term injuries.

Having sustained some bone bruising in his foot, Conor Murray sat out training today and his injury will continue to be monitored by medical staff.

Mike Sherry (knee ligament) and Tyler Bleyendaal (quad) will following their rehab programmes this week and are expected to return to modified training early next week.

Jordan Coghlan emerged as the only injury concern following Munster A’s British & Irish Cup win over Yorkshire Carnegie on Friday night. The back-rower underwent a scan for an ankle injury and will be further assessed this week.

Munster medical staff also confirmed that both Peter O’Mahony (ACL) and Duncan Casey (pectoral muscle) underwent successful surgeries last Friday.

Peter McCabe (pectoral muscle), Tommy O'Donnell (hip), Stephen Archer (neck) and Johnny Holland (hamstring) all continue with their respective rehab programmes.

Meanwhile, the young Australian duo of Rory O’Connor (prop) and Mike Kennedy (scrum-half) trained with the squad in a trial capacity at UL today. Both players are Irish qualified.

Head Coach Anthony Foley will name his side for this weekend’s top-of-the-table interprovincial against Connacht at midday on Friday.
